PLANS have been unveiled to turn part of a Southampton railway station into a community meeting space.

Nick Farthing of the Three Rivers Community Rail Partnership has submitted an application to convert a former signal box at Woolston station.

Built in 1901 the signal box - a Grade II listed building - shut in 1980 following the closure of the station's goods yard.

It will be fully restored and turned into a meeting room if the scheme is given the go-ahead by the city council.

The application is outlined in a Public Notice that has been published by the council.
