Police close Southampton bridge after concern for welfare call (Image: NQ)
A SOUTHAMPTON bridge was closed during the early hours today after reports of concern for welfare.
Officers were called to the Itchen Bridge just before 1am.
The bridge was closed in both directions for around one hour.
A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of common assault on an emergency worker.
A spokesperson from Hampshire Police said: "Officers were called to a concern for welfare at 00.56am this morning on the Itchen Bridge.
"At the location a 28 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of common assault of an emergency worker."
