A SOUTHAMPTON man who sparked a bomb scare, and tried to make a homemade gun, has been jailed.
Pascal Knorr-Gulde admitted to having explosives that "could blow off someone's hand", a court heard.
In June last year the 48-year-old caused chaos when a bomb disposal unit raced to his home in Bond Road, Southampton.
Residents at two nearby properties were evacuated with officers seizing a stun gun and firearms parts from his home.
During a trial at Southampton Crown Court, it was heard that Knorr-Gulde was found in possession of an instruction manual for making a MAC10 machine pistol as well as the notorious Anarchist Cookbook, which contains instructions for making explosives.

The court heard today how the defendant has a previous conviction for building a fake improvised explosive device - commonly referred to as an IED - in 2014, which prompted Southampton's Manor Farm Road to be evacuated.
He was also convicted in 2014 of attacking a female police officer.
A jury convicted him of possessing explosives, possessing a prohibited weapon and of attempting to manufacture a firearm.
He was charged with manufacturing explosives following the events of June 19 last year, however, this was dropped.
Today, Judge Peter Henry branded him a danger to the public and jailed him for eight years - he will also be subject to a four year extended licence.
