DOG owners have been warned to be vigilant after an attempted theft in Winnall on Saturday.
Police were called at 8.26pm on Saturday to reports of an attempted robbery Moss Road. The victim had been been walking when she was approached by a man who attempted to take the dog lead from her hand.
Fortunately, the owner was able to walk away with the dog.
A police spokesperson said: "We would like to remind everyone to remain vigilant. We fully understand people's concerns about the reports of thefts and attempted thefts of dogs they are seeing online.
"All reports we receive are fully investigated, although we are not seeing this reported to us on the level it is being discussed online."
