A CASH boost has been awarded to a town theatre to aid it its reopening after lockdown.

Staff at The Point Eastleigh say they are "delighted" after funding of £1,395 was allocated to them from the Theatres Trust's Protection and Theatre Reopening Fund.

Funding will be used to support the purchasing of equipment needed by the theatres technical team due to the pandemic, as well as materials to allow staff to better meet the needs of community hirers.

The money will also be used by The Points sister theatre, The Berry Theatre in Hedge End, with both facilities owned by Eastleigh Borough Council.

Eastleigh Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Social Policy, Councillor Tina Campbell, said: “This grant will help bring the theatres back into residents’ lives and the team will put it to good use in making the theatres safe for visitors.”
