A popular pie shop is set to become the county's only one-table restaurant.

The Winchester Parchment Street business will swing open its doors in a couple of weeks.

Co-owner Rob Litchfield has already been inundated with bookings for the solitary table. With just two seats available per slot, the restaurant is fully booked for the week beginning April 12 – when eateries and pubs are allowed to serve customers outside again.

Mr Litchfield said he can only fit one table outside the restaurant, which serves 20 different pies, because of the narrow pavement in Parchment Street.

Speaking to The Mirror, he said: "We have space outside the shop door for one table. We had a play around with it and we are not blocking access or causing any trouble.

"It's a bit of a novelty. We started accepting bookings yesterday morning and are now fully booked for the first week. Everyone is desperate to get out and about."

He added that he we would like more tables, but physically cannot fit any more outside.

Mr Litchfield, 41, has called the seating arrangement 'The Table'. He hopes it will bring in around £100-a-night.

Piecaramba, which runs also has establishments in Winchester, Southampton and Brighton, has survived lockdown by staying open for takeaway orders.
