A COLLEGE is celebrating a record year for students gaining places at top universities.
Barton Peveril Sixth Form College in Eastleigh has, for the second year in a row, broken its record for the number of students being offered places to study at the universities of Oxford and Cambridge.
A total of 23 Barton Peveril students, from across Hampshire, have received offers to study at the world renowned universities this year.
Of that number, 17 have received offers from the University of Oxford and six have been offered places by the University of Cambridge.
Students earned offers for a range of subjects from Modern and Medieval Languages through to Medicine and to Mathematics.
Principal Jonathan Prest said: “Our students have shown here that background, income, gender, ethnicity and other protected characteristics, do not and should not prevent students aiming for the top.”
