A POLICE officer has told of his distress and frustration after a man hurled abuse at him while stood outside a school.

The officer was stood outside Netley Abbey Junior and Infant School this morning, keeping an eye on parking and wishing those passing a good morning.

However, while outside the school he was confronted by a man at the main entrance, who "had a bone to pick with police".

The Hedge End-based officer told how the man spouted a range of opinions of which he described to be "unjustified and blown completely out of proportion".

In a post of Facebook, the officer who referred to himself as just PC Mike, said: "He kept saying that I am corrupt, that we (as in the police) are all murderers, making reference to the murder of Sarah Everard.

"There was no ‘Hello’ or ‘Good Morning’, just straight in with bad mouthing the police and in essence calling me and the rest of the officers in this nation, bad cops."

He took to the Hedge End Facebook page to express his frustration following the abuse he suffered this morning.

The officer said: "Over the last week I have read through many posts and tweets about Police and this case in particular.

"Many of them have made me sad, angry, confused and shocked.

"This quote could not be any truer: 'nobody hates bad cops as much as good cops. They go against every oath we hold dear. They are not us’."

He added: "There will always be bad people out there in this world and there can be no accounting for that fact.

"Most people are good and would never wish harm on anyone else, let alone attack or kill someone.

"Despite what has happened to Sarah, I will continue to believe that.

"Ignoring what happened this morning I would like to thank the community for their show of support, it means a lot.

"We will get through this pandemic and come out of the other side stronger.

"I would like to reassure everyone that follows us that you have an exceptional team who look after your area and Hampshire as a whole."
