A SOUTHAMPTON nightclub is to run a two day online festival celebrating the best indie and alternative clubs from around the country.

Southampton Clubnight Rocktail Riot, based at The Shooting Star, together with national DJ Gem Precious have come together for Music Venue Trust is to host the festival online.

Fusion Fest brings together club nights from around the UK for the very first time.

Curated by Rocktail Riot founders Djamel Makhlouf and Holly Cook alongside DJ Gem Precious, the two-day online DJ festival aims to raise funds for Music Venue Trust’s Save Our Venues campaign.

Taking place on April 2 and 3, Friday’s line-up boasts an indie takeover by Propaganda, the UK’s biggest club night, whilst Saturday headliners, Facedown and Uprawr, represent the best of the UK alt scene.

The event was launched on NME.com and boasts huge names such as Face Down, Uprawr, Propaganda and The Suicide Girls, as well as many other club nights from across the whole country who DJ week in week out in the grassroots venues that are currently at risk.

The event is also sponsored by Dr Martens and Fightback Lager.

Djamel Makhlouf (Dj Didjitall), Fusion Fest Founder, said: “Being based in Southampton, the Joiners is my second home, a venue that has benefitted from MVT, our club Rocktail Riot has a close working partnership with them and have run events together in the past, Fusion Fest seemed like a great next step to do what we love, but for a whole country of venues that need our support.”
