PATROLS have been increased near a recreation ground after an 11-year-old girl was sexually assaulted.
On Monday, between 8.10am and 8.30am, a schoolgirl was walking through Fryern Recreation Ground when she noticed a man sat on a bench.
The man, who was sat between the basketball court and play area approached her as she walked past and grabbed her upper thigh, over her clothing.
Police have now increased their patrols in the area and have asked anyone for information to come forward as they continue to investigate.
The man was said to be wearing a black coat and black shoes and is decribed as white, aged between 30-50.
Anyone with information can call police on 101, quoting crime reference number 44210107929.
Alternatively, they can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where information can be left anonymously.
