PLANNING chiefs are studying proposals to demolish a former Southampton garage and replace it with almost 50 flats.
Petra Developments and Fortitudo Ltd have submitted an application to transform a site currently occupied by the old Hyundai showroom in St Denys Road, Portswood.
If the scheme is approved two four-storey blocks of flats will be built at the junction of St Denys Road and the A335 Thomas Lewis Way.
The application is outlined in a Public Notice that has been published by the city council.

Temporary road closures:
Southampton City Council is closing Claremont Crescent near its junction with Regents Park Road from April 5 for highway improvements - pedestrian build-outs and footway resurfacing. Work due to be completed by May 3.
Southampton City Council is closing Bullar Road southbound from its junction Bitterne Road West from April 9 (9pm-6am) for ITS repairs and railing replacement. Work due to be completed by April 11.
Licensing applications:
Meet Point Bakery has applied to Southampton City Council for permission to sell alcohol, for consumption on and off the premises, at Meet Point Bakery, 72-94 Millbank Street between 11am and 11pm Monday to Sunday.
Kanathage Rahula Perera has applied to Southampton City Council for permission to sell alcohol, for consumption off the premises, Avenue Food and Wine, 21 Methuen Street, between 7am and 11pm Monday to Sunday.
Gorillas Technologies Ltd has applied for a premises licence for 133 Portswood Road, Southampton. The application includes a proposal to supply alcohol for delivery only from 8am to midnight every day.
R Owton Wholesale Butchers Ltd, of Unit 17, Chalcroft Business Park, Burnett's Lane, West End, is applying for a licence to use the unit as an operating centre for four goods vehicles.
Ademi Limited, of 52 Drove Road, Southampton, is applying for a licence to use Unit 64, Eling Wharf, Totton, as an operating centre for one goods vehicle and one trailer.
Illuminati Vodka Ltd, of Unit 49, Premier Way, Abbey Park Industrial Estate, Romsey, has applied to Test Valley Borough Council for a premises licence to sell alcohol (off sales) between 8am and 7pm, Monday to Sunday.
Alan Jerrim, trading as Overland Boat Movements Ltd, is applying to change an existing licence as follows to add an operating centre to keep five goods vehicles and five trailers at EW01, Eling Wharf, High Street, Totton.
