FIREFIGHTERS are tackling a blaze at a former cattery in Southampton.
Crews have raced to West End Road this morning to battle a fire.
The road is blocked off and residents said that thick black smoke and flames 16 feet high could be seen rising in the area at about 10.30am.
It is believed the fire began at the former cattery before spreading to other buildings.
Hightown Fire Station commander Paul Lawler said: "At about 10.30am we were called to a fire at the cattery.
"When we arrived the fire was well alight. Three outbuildings have been destroyed.
"We are not sure what the cause is but a fire investigation team is on the scene."
No people or animals were injured.
Multiple buildings are said to be ablaze including a summer house, sheds and an electrical sub station.
There are reports of power outages in the area.
Firefighters from Hightown, St Mary's, Eastleigh and Redbridge Fire Stations are in the area.
