IS YOUR dog the UK's most useless guard dog?

A smart home security company has launched a competition to find the UK's most hopeless guard dog.

Boundary, a smart home security start-up, is urging Hampshire dog owners to enter a competition to identify the most useless guard dog in the nation.

Whether they regularly fall asleep on the job, are scared of everything or are just plain terrible at guarding the door.

The team at smart home security company Boundary (www.boundary.co.uk) are on the lookout for the UK’s most useless, hopeless or comical guard dog, with a hapless Husky, a bored Terrier and a lounging Labrador among the best of the early entrants.

All dog owners across the country are asked to do is submit a photo of their four-legged friend acting as a guard dog, with a short description of why they should be crowned ‘the most hopeless guard dog in the UK’.

The title of the UK’s most hopeless guard dog will be decided by the team, with the winning owner receiving a DIY Boundary alarm system and six-month subscription, totalling £350.

Robin Knox, CEO Boundary, said: “With much of the nation hoping to see the end of lockdown for good in the coming months, burglaries will no doubt rise, with households no longer being consistently occupied by adults working from home or on furlough.

"Our pets, and guard dogs in particular, can be a great way to deter intruders, but we want to find one that’s not quite pulling its weight, and give the owners a bit of a helping hand.”

The competition closes at 11:59pm on April 18, with the winner to be contacted and announced the first week of May.

With the end of lockdown in sight, the competition is also designed to raise awareness of the need to be vigilant around home security – particularly in relation to dogs – with burglaries expected to increase when measures relax and people will be spending less time at home.
