REGARDING letters Monday 29th March - Mr Kryle wanted to let us know that he and some of his colleagues are more qualified to make a decision than the average person as five of his associates have university degrees and that he has a masters. Pomposity springs to mind.

We are reminded that during his position as chairman of one committee or another people said naughty things to him, and more recently the ongoing saga of Southampton airport's extension meeting where he became aware of a number of derogatory remarks including reference to brown envelopes and bribery - never happened in his day of course.

He also said that no wonder many highly suitable potential councillors shy away from seeking election aware of what they may be subjected to by ignorant and ill-tempered members of the public.

Surely not, although I would expect my local councillor to have the bottle to stand up for me and suffer the slings and arrows.

He said that he and his colleagues are all in the same party which reminds me of what my old dad used to say – they all do it in the same pot.
