SOUTHAMPTON is the second deadliest place for wildlife, figures have revealed.
A new report by GoCompare has analysed the UK’s latest Roadkill Records data, to reveal Britain’s most dangerous areas and roads for wildlife, the animals most commonly involved, and the worst months for incidents to occur.
Southampton was the second highest area with the most roadkill in the UK.
The city has seen 259 animals hit by cars according to the UK’s latest Roadkill Records data.
Winchester was ranked fourth with 237 animals hit by cars.
Small mammals are the most commonly hit animals on roads in the UK at 8,580 a year.
The second most common victim, at just over half the amount, are birds at 4,652 a year.
