A FLY-TIPPER must fork out almost £1,500 for dumping rubbish at a Hampshire farm and flouting environmental regulations.
A haul of rubbish was found at piled up at Ganger Farm Way in Romsey, close to the new King’s Chase housing development.
The trash included household and construction waste, broken furniture, a bath, wood, glass panels, tyres, concrete blocks and capping and other building waste.
An investigation later revealed that Dominic Lane, 23, of Bodycoats Road, Southampton, had cleared the rubbish from a home in Romsey.
He admitted the offence, and a search under the Environment Agency found that he only had a lower tier licence, meaning he did not have the correct licence to transport other people’s waste.
In mitigation, Mr Lane said he was aware that he should have had an upper tier licence, and that the waste was already there, and that he only added to it.
Lane, of Chandler’s Ford, admitted the offence and was given a £480 fine for fly-tipping, a £200 fine for operating without a waste carrier’s licence, and ordered to pay £749.50 in costs and a £68 victim surcharge.
