A FORMER pub is destined for the wrecking ball – and is to be replaced by seven flats.

Plans to demolish The Black Horse Inn, Colden Common have been submitted to Winchester city council.

If approved, two one-bed and five two-bedroom properties will be built. The existing car park will be retained, with space for 10 vehicles.

Applicant Richard Comstive, whose address is listed as Hyde Street in Winchester, is also seeking permission for a communal garden area to the rear of the flats.

In 2014, the pub closed and was turned into three-bedroom home.

According to whatpub.com, the landlord passed away and his widow Wendy Pearson decided she did not want to take on the running of the pub, but also did not want to leave the building.

A decision on the plans is expected to be made by the end of May.
