TWO POLICE officers were pulled to safety when their van flipped over in Southampton city centre.

One of them was rushed to hospital while the other was treated by paramedics at the scene.
Meanwhile, the van driver was also seen to by medics following the crash which happened at around 1.45pm on Tuesday at the junction of Town Quay and the High Street.
A roadblock was put in place for much of the afternoon and motorists were diverted away from the area.
Bus services were redirected with queues formed along the major city route.

“I just hope no one was hurt.”
One man who witnessed the crash and who wished to remain unnamed, added: “I heard a big bang and saw it roll.
“Members of the public pulled out two officers.
“It flew over.

It had reportedly been travelling west along Town Quay and had turned right into the High Street.
And the Nissan van had been going east along Town Quay.
According to South Central Ambulance Service, one of the officers in the vehicle was taken to University Hospital Southampton for “further assessment and treatment”.
The other officer, as well as the driver of the white van, were said to have sustained minor injuries but were treated and discharged at the scene.
