A WINCHESTER man was caught drink driving 85 miles from his home and on his birthday.
Ionut Ostache was stopped while driving a Fiat Punto on Newlands Road, in Luton, on March 6, and a breath test was carried out.
The 29-year-old was found to have 87 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath – the legal limit is 35.
Ostache, of Harrow Down, appeared at Luton Magistrates’ Court on April 22 where pleaded guilty to drink driving.
Magistrates disqualified him from driving for 18 months and fined him £300.
He must also pay court costs of £85 and a £34 victim surcharge.
