A Hampshire marina has been supporting a two-man rowing team as they prepare to row 3,000 miles across the Atlantic.

MDL’s Hamble Point Marina is supporting team Mindcraft, as they prepare and train for the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge.

The challenge includes the team of two friends, Tim Harris and Simon Calver, rowing 3,000 nautical miles across the Atlantic in their boat ‘Mindcraft’.

They are doing this to raise funds and awareness for stem4, a charity supporting positive mental health in teenagers.

The 24 foot long ‘Mindcraft’ is a Rannoch R25, and was provided with easy access to the water at Hamble Point Marina, for the duration of the team’s training in The Solent.

Tim said: “MDL’s support is invaluable in providing us with such a fantastic base for training. Hamble Point Marina offers such easy access to the Solent, along with superb shoreside facilities for any boat repairs”.

The challenge will begin in early December, departing from the Canary Island of La Gomera and finishing at Nelson’s Dockyard, Antigua & Barbuda with team Mindcraft competing against around 34 other teams.

Debbie Burns, Hamble Point Marina Manager, said: "We are delighted to support team Mindcraft in their Tallisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, in aid of such a great cause.

"It was a pleasure to welcome the team to Hamble Point Marina and we wish them every success.”
