This week marks the 20th anniversary since the last Premier League match was played at Saints' former hallowed ground.
IT was a special day - and unsurprisingly, Matt Le Tissier was the hero once again.
On May 19, 2001, Saints said goodbye to the Dell in stunning style with a 3-2 victory over Arsenal.
They were made to work for it when Ashley Cole and Freddie Ljungberg put Arsenal ahead, but Hassan Kachloul equalised twice.
It looked set to be played out as a draw but Le Tissier once again wrote himself into the history books with a last-minute winner to steal the point.
The party was almost spoilt with a good-humoured pitch invasion at the final whistle when an army of stewards did a tremendous job to get the ground clear for a lap of honour to take place.
These pictures show the Dell and were taken just days before the match when an Echo photographer got a rare behind-the-scenes tour of the ground.
