PLANNING chiefs are studying proposals to replace a Hampshire industrial estate with a 68-bed care home.
Frontier Estates is asking Fareham Borough Council for planning permission to transform a square-shaped piece of land opposite homes at Stubbington Lane, Stubbington.
The application says the site is currently occupied by a group of ageing buildings, several of which are of poor environmental quality.
It adds: "Many of these have reached, or are approaching the end of their useable lifespan.
"Existing uses are predominantly commercial in nature and are not typically found in residential areas. These include services relating to vehicle repair, building, trailer hire and scrap metal collection.
"The care home will provide high quality accommodation for the elderly, with the capability for all care needs to be met on site.
"The introduction of new planting and trees will give a homely and welcoming feel to the care home."
The application says the proposed new building will include a spacious lounge and a ground floor cafe with access to gardens.
A Public Notice giving details of the scheme has been published by the council, which will determine the application.
