TWO brothers are planning to hold a football match and charity fun day in memory of their late father.

Paul Prince of Mendip Road, Southampton died on June 11 last year after a scooter accident at the junction of Shirley Road and Waterloo Road.

Mr Prince, who was 61 at the time, was a founding member of the The Wimpson Old Boys Scooter Club which is holding it's tenth anniversary "all dayer" at the Saints Pub on July 10.

Now though, his two sons, Ellis and and Liam Prince have organised a charity football match and family funday to take place alongside the all dayer in memory of their late father.

The match will be played at Mansel Park on the morning of July 10 and is set to include stalls, a bouncy castle, face painting and other events for families.

All money raised through the events will then go to the scooter clubs chosen charity, Southampton Doing It For The Kids.

Liam said: "We just wanted to do something in memory of him this year, and apart from the scooters, his other love was football so we thought it would be perfect to do the two together.

"We want to get as many people to come as we can. It's not just a football match, we're trying to make it as much fun as possible for all the family.

"It will hopefully be a nice way to remember him. We've had enough of the bad stuff and the sadness, we want it to be a celebration."

Mr Prince, who followed both Saints and Spurs, also managed several football teams during his life, and included in the two teams for the match will be a selection of his old players.

The players are aged between 20 and 60 and ex Saints, Spurs and England star, Martin Chivers will also be attending to hand out raffle prizes.

Another ex Saints player, Nicky Banger will referee the match and prizes for the raffle include memorabilia signed by Matt Le-Tissier and football commentator, Clive Tildsley.

The event is free to attend and the two brothers have thanked Eugene at the Saints pub for letting them use the pitch.

Liam added that they are thinking of doing a tournament in future with multiple teams involved.
