EXTINCTION Rebellion Southampton is set to protest at an event organised by Southampton Airport.
The group has said it will be at the River Walk entrance to Marlhill Copse today to protest at Southampton Airport's event to mark World Environment Day.
The protests will begin at 12.40pm and go on during the woodland walk which runs from 1pm-2pm.
This comes after permission was confirmed for the airport's runway extension by Eastleigh Borough Council last week.
A spokesperson for the group said: "This will be a peaceful non-disruptive protest to highlight the airport’s hypocritical attempt to use World Environment Day to greenwash their expansion plans which will result in huge increases in greenhouse gas emissions and noise, damaging the local and global environment for people in the future."
