A NEW play area and Multi Use Games Area has opened for children to enjoy.

The new facility opened at Boorley Park on Tuesday with the play area aimed at providing a "safe, fun and challenging experience" for children aged up to 12-years-old.

Centred around a multiactivity unit that includes a tunnel, snake see-saw, swings, circular trampoline, and a disability accessible roundabout the play area also includes safety surfacing around and under each bit of equipment.

It was funded from financial contributions from the developers of nearby new housing schemes and was installed by Winchester based, Vita Play Limited.

As well as this, the new games area is now free to use from 7am to 7pm throughout the week and includes an all-weather surface most suited to football.

The goals are set into the fencing so there is no time wasted assembling goalposts.

The facility will also be available to the pupils at Boorley Park School.

Mayor of Eastleigh Cllr Cynthia Garton, “I am delighted to open these fantastic new play facilities in Boorley Park.

"These will provide local children in the area with the chance to enjoy a range of play equipment and an informal kick about area in a safe environment which also encourages them to keep active.”

This new area comes after a string of new play areas were set up or improved across the borough by Eastleigh Borough Council.

A total of £1.1m is being invested into the areas and now thousands of children and families are now said to be enjoying the facilities already installed.
