A LOTTERY which will support at least 30 Southampton charities, community groups and good causes has been launched with six £25,000 prizes up for grabs.

Tickets are now on sale for SO:Lotto and you can sign up to take part from £1 per week.

The first draw will take place on Saturday September 25 with various cash prizes for matching numbered balls.

The six jackpots will be supplemented by five £2,000 and four £250 prizes.

Extra local prizes in the first draw will include a Saints shirt, Mayflower gift voucher, SS Shieldhall cruise tickets, a voucher for lunch at God's House Tower and a guided walk of the old town with SEE Southampton.

Run by Southampton Voluntary Services (SVS), SO: Lotto will allow registered charities and community groups in the city to register for free and be assigned their own lottery page to generate funds for their cause.

There will also be a SO:Lotto general fund for those Lotto players who do not wish to support a specific charity but would rather support citywide good causes. This fund will be distributed by a SO:Lotto selection panel on a regular basis to good causes across the city.

Tara Doel, Special Projects Development Worker at SVS, said: "This is a fun way for the local community to raise some funds for the benefit of the community. It will be nice to see lots of funds raised for causes across the city whilst those participating also have the opportunity to win a prize.
