PLANS to upgrade an historic Hampshire cottage by installing a dormer window have been turned down.
The New Forest National Park Authority (NPA) has refused an application relating to Rose Cottage in Forest Road, Burley.
A report to members said: "Rose Cottage is an early/mid-19th century cottage situated within the Burley Conservation Area.
"Permission is sought for a large flat-roofed dormer to create additional full height space in a room in the roof space.
"The proposed dormer would be oversized in comparison with the existing small-scale, characterful features of Rose Cottage.
"The dormer is not considered appropriate or sympathetic to historic and architectural significance of this locally important building."
