Calls have been made for more to be done to stop dozens of people gathering for car meets in Calmore.

Police broke-up a car meet at Calmore Industrial Estate on Saturday night.

Officers found more than 100 people gathered with their vehicles, with one seen driving dangerously, doing donuts in the vicinity and near to the people stood by, officers reported.

Now, Conservative councillor for Totton North, Arthur Davis said: “I’m not happy with [these car meets] at all.

“It has to be resolved.

“The police have been putting some work in going up there but the problem seems to continue. I don’t know the answer.

“I hope the police will come up with something.

“It’s not good for the industrial estate, it’s not good for Calmore and it’s not good for people living locally.

“The noise must be horrendous. It can’t be condoned.

“I know some people on Facebook are saying ‘leave them alone’, but I’m not of that view.

“Someone’s going to get hurt badly up there, that’s the bottom line.”

In July, police issued a warning after a similar incident.

It was reported “60 to 70” vehicles were seen gathered and driving dangerously on the Calmore Industrial Estate following weeks of reports of bad driving in the area.

One resident responded back then, saying “Been going on for months now - sort the little boy racers out please.”
