MONSOON downpours, mud and first day issues did not matter at all once the music started at Wickham Festival.
After so long without live music, revellers - which included myself - were able to deal with whatever the weather threw at them to satiate their hunger for live music.
A line-up which included Van Morrison, Deacon Blue and Lindisfarne, the weekend promised so much - and delivered.
It would be really easy to sit at home and pick fault with what happened - and there are certainly lessons to be learnt when it comes to next year.
From a car park which was out of bounds unless you fancied being towed on and off by a tractor to the necessity for wellies, it was a typical British festival experience.
But all in all it was a lesson in how team work and a monumental effort from all involved can still deliver a great weekend of music and comedy enjoyed by thousands of people.
I am sure many will remember the rain and the mud but what I will remember most of all is watching Tankus the Henge, Deacon Blue and CoCo and The Butterfields singing their hearts out in the middle of a field and having a fantastic time after eighteen months of no live music.
I am already planning on a return visit to next year’s festival as it is always a musical triumph. I may just bring my own bale of hay to park on though.
