A MAN has been arrested following the theft of a safe from Winchester Cathedral.
Police say two people were seen wheeling the safe out on a chair just before 5pm yesterday.
Officers were on the look-out for anti-social behaviour (ASB) in the city when they were alerted.
Posting on Facebook, Winchester Cops said: "Unfortunately our ASB patrols were disrupted due to a theft which occurred at Winchester Cathedral.
"One suspect has already been arrested.
"Two males were seen to steal a safe in broad daylight from the cathedral, wheeling it on a chair. CCTV enquiries are ongoing."
