THESE are the cycle lanes being made permanent on The Avenue - but there will also be neighbouring routes pulled up.
Southampton City Council today revealed what will be happening to some of the city's most used cycle lanes as the 15-month trial comes to an end.
So far, routes on Hill Lane, as well as Bassett Avenue, have been removed following ferocious backlash from some locals - including visitors driving into the city.
But it has now been confirmed that part of the route on The Avenue will be kept, with extra works taking place on certain junctions to give cyclists and pedestrians 'priority' over motorists.
The council has also revealed that it plans to dig up part of the same route on the busy road, and instead move cyclists onto new ‘quietways’ which will take them into parallel-running side roads.
A date for when these changes will be made has yet to be confirmed by the council.

Here is where the route will be kept (in blue), and where it will be removed (in red).
As you can see, the lanes between Winn Road and the subway underpass on The Common are being made permanent, but the route from the underpass and north are being pulled up.
The council has also released a map of where it is currently working on the road, and where it will be moving onto next.
