WOODMILL Lane in Southampton will be closed for a week due to repair works.

Work is to get underway to re-roof Woodmill Activity Centre this weekend.

Woodmill Lane will be closed between Manor Farm Road to Wessex Lane.

The city council has announced the closure will be in place from Saturday, August 14 until Saturday, August 21.

Meanwhile, diversions will be in place along Manor Farm Road, St Denys Road and Portswood Road.

A statement from Southampton City Council published online, said: "Woodmill Lane will be closed from Manor Farm Road to Wessex Lane from this Saturday until the following Saturday while re-roofing works are carried out to the Woodmill Activity Centre. This will be a full-time closure with a signed diversion along Manor Farm Road, St Denys Road and Portswood Road.

"Please plan your journeys ahead and, for more information, please visit the Southampton Roadworks Map."

Earlier in the year the route was closed following a hit and run incident.

A Nissan Micra smashed into the side of the former mill building leaving a gaping hole.

Police later launched a hunt for three young males fleeing from the scene in May.
