PLANS have been submitted for the creation of over 30 new homes in a Hampshire village.

Vistry Group has submitted a planning application to Eastleigh Borough Council to request permission to build 35 new homes on the former Treetops Nurseries site just East of Allington Lane in Fair Oak.

At 1.28 hectares, under the plans the site would include a mixture of detached, semi-detached and apartment properties with 35 per cent of these proposed to be affordable.

All of the houses would be two-storey with one three-storey apartment building also included as well as a “green space” in the centre of the site.

A total of 98 parking spaces would also be included based just off of the main road through the site including 16 garages.

In the planning documents for the application, the applicant says: “The site is located immediately adjacent to existing residential areas and provides an excellent opportunity for an appropriate housing development which respects the existing architectural character.

“The site has a number of mature trees and perimeter hedgerows which have some landscape and habitat value and will be retained and enhanced.

“There are opportunities to introduce an area of green open space to the centre of the site to provide an area of amenity and recreation.”

Access to the new homes would be provided from an existing entrance along Allington Lane with the main route though following the existing drive.

Now the plans are out for consultation having been received by the council’s planning officers on July 21.

The consultation for the plans is due to run until September 3 with a statutory decision date listed on the councils planning portal as October 20.

In the documents, Vistry Group adds: “The design has arisen from a firm understanding of the local character and full grasp of the constraints and opportunities, resulting in an appropriate proposal that meets all the development criteria and makes efficient use of the available land.

“At all stages in the formulation of the proposals, maintaining and enhancing the character and appearance of the area, whilst providing excellent amenities for the residents has been crucial.

“This has been achieved whilst providing for quality family homes, that are both ecological sound and aesthetically pleasing.”
