PLANNING chiefs are studying proposals to turn a Hampshire bar and restaurant back into two homes.

Andros Loizou has submitted an application to convert Beer Grylls at Rope Walk, Hamble, into a five-bedroom property and a one-bedroom unit.

His scheme includes a two-storey addition to historic building, which overlooks the River Hamble.

The application says the proposal seeks to extend the property in a way which is "appropriate" to its Grade II-listed status and is in keeping with its setting within a conservation area.

It adds: "The existing restaurant use is no longer viable.

"The proposals are to re-instate the building as two dwellings utilising the clear internal separations already in place. Structural alterations would be kept to a minimum.

"There are numerous eating and drinking establishments in the village and it is not considered that the loss of this restaurant will be harmful to the vitality of the settlement.

"External changes to the building will result in the removal of incongruous paraphernalia."

The scheme is outlined in a Public Notice published by Eastleigh Borough Council, which will determine the application.

Here is a round-up of other Public Notices giving details of licensing applications, temporary road closures and other changes affecting communities in the area.
