THE Celebration of Speed fundraising event comes to Embley Park on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 August to raise funds for Race Against Dementia and Naomi House and Jacks Place.

The Three-time F1 World Champion, Sir Jackie Stewart founded Race Against Dementia after his wife Helen was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia in 2014.

Sir Jackie said: “Since my wife Helen was diagnosed, I have tried to encourage more and better research into dementia. This disease kills so many people - we need to find more effective ways of dealing with it.

“One in three of people born today will die from dementia and for every dementia researcher there are more than four cancer researchers.

“There must be more action and financial support to beat this terrible disease before more people and their families have to face dementia.

“The Celebration of Speed is a wonderful event. I am very grateful to the team and those attending for their support as we work together to beat dementia.”

Race Against Dementia has committed over £5m to research through its fellowship programme that uses the most promising scientists around the world.

A Celebration of Speed, now in its fourth year, starts off with a lunch party and fine wines.

There will be a demonstration of classic motor racing cars, bikes, modern supercars and an auction in aid of the charity hosted by Charles Hanson who features in television series Bargain Hunt, Flog It! and Antiques Road Trip.

Saturday evening will bring Café Mambo Ibiza in the Park, an outdoor one-day festival of electronic music with a line-up of well-known DJs.

Sunday, Katherine Jenkins, supported by West End star John Own-Jones for a summer prom with classical music.

Mike Turnbull, event director said: “It’s going to be a weekend of celebrations for people with a passion for great cars, great food and great music. It’s also a chance to raise much needed funds for two very important causes, Race Against Dementia and regional children’s hospice Naomi House and Jacks place.”
