A SCOOTER was seen in flames yesterday after a crash with a car in Southampton

The incident involving a black hatchback and an e-scooter is said to have taken place at around 5.15pm yesterday. 

Witnesses claimed that the scooter and the car collided whilst going down a narrow section of road on Weston Parade. 

Photos sent to the Echo show the scooter in flames following the incident with damage to the rear of the car as well.

Daily Echo:

The e-scooter rider, a 24-year-old man from Southampton suffered a fractured leg and a bump to his head. 

He is being treated for his injuries. 

It was not said if the driver of the car, a 19-year-old man from Netley, was injured. 

There have been no arrests but police are now investigating.

A police spokesperson said: "We were informed about the crash around 17:27pm yesterday 13/08/21. 

"We are investigating the incident and would ask any witnesses to contact the Roads Policing Unit's PC Paul Weston on 101."

A fire engine from Hightown also attended with firefighters providing emergency care to the injured rider. 

He was then handed over into the care of South Central Ambulance Service with firefighters leaving just after 6pm.
