PATROLS have taken place in car parks across the New Forest after a rise in break-ins.

On Friday, vehicles were broken into at the Bolderwood and Knightwood Oak car parks.

An attempt was also made to break into another at Bratley View.

Catalytic converters are said to have been cut out of cars.

As well as this, expensive bicycles have also been stolen from outside pubs and restaurants recently.

This is said to be happening in the Brockenhurst and Lyndhurst area.

Now patrols have taken place across the New Forest's car parks as a result.

Motorists are being urged to lock everything, not to leave anything valuable in their vehicles and not to leave bikes unattended.

A police spokesperson said: "Thieves are active at the moment so please take extra care with all of your valuable possessions and if you are on holiday and have got expensive bikes with, don’t leave them unattended and ask at your accommodation if you can store them inside, especially overnight."
