The eyes of the business world will be on Hampshire on October 28, as delegates head to our city for a series of annual events dedicated to supporting private and public sector organisations through their corporate sustainability strategies and drive to net zero carbon.

The events are the brainchild of Anita Potten and Lynda Daniels, directors of The Southern Sustainability Partnership, with offices in both Hampshire and Dorset.

In 2015 the company created a platform in the region, designed to empower organisations to engage in a level of change that is vital to their survival.

Today, they run one of the UK's leading dedicated exhibitions, right here in Hampshire at St. Mary's Stadium in the city centre. Launching on the same day, is the company's first Hampshire Business Leaders Climate Summit sponsored by Southampton City Council and also supported by the regions GreenTech South initiative.

Closely followed by the third Gala Dinner & Big Sustainability Awards programme from 7pm, sponsored in 2021 by Awards Ambassadors GSH Group from Gosport in Hampshire and hosted by county Yachtswoman, Dee Caffari.

How do we achieve our objectives, to support large corporations through to SMEs and the public sector, the pair recently commented? We inspire, cajole, educate and match make our way to putting this onto the agenda, and we won't stop until every company in the region is talking about this and taking action.

It's now as much about the planet as it is the future of the incredible businesses in our region, and we all have a part to play to ensure they continue to thrive. Their partnership began with bold aspirations, to disrupt a 'business as usual' agenda because for them reducing the environmental footprint of our businesses is among the most important objectives of our time.

We believe it's only by questioning a 'we've always done it this way' mentality, while creating a platform for open discussion, collaboration and the sharing of knowledge, matched with an ability to see and touch the solutions available that real change can be made.

It's proven this change streamlines businesses, reduces running costs, makes them more attractive to customers and investors, helps win tenders and attracts the best and most motivated workforce.
