TEAM GB’s success at the Tokyo Olympics led to a Hampshire company selling a record amount of clothing and merchandise.
Earnings from the thousands of orders sent around the world will now be reinvested to take athletes to the Paris 2024 games and beyond.
Green Snow, based in Ower, specialises in managing sports and outdoor brands.
Along with other partners, it worked with Team GB to create and promote clothing, accessories and other merchandise for the 2020 games.
The independent business shipped thousands of orders around the world, exceeding sales from the time of the 2016 Rio Olympics by 50 per cent.
Iwan Thomas, the Southampton-based sprinter and former Olympic silver medallist, dropped in to the firm’s warehouse to help pick and pack items from the Team GB online shop.
The items range from the official Adidas Team GB kit to children’s T-shirts, featuring Peppa Pig urging youngsters to “believe in extraordinary”.
Green Snow has built the current Team GB website from scratch in the past three years and runs an end-to-end service, from designing and sourcing products to selling and dispatching them.
Green Snow’s managing director, Steve Mills, said: “We’re incredibly proud of the entire team’s Olympian efforts here in stepping up to deliver over and above, both during the games and in the challenging build-up over the last few years.
“All the Green Snow team were delighted to see local Olympic hero Iwan Thomas on the starting blocks ready to lend a hand in tackling our massive Team GB distribution challenge.
“it was great fun to have him here and it gave everybody at Green Snow a real boost to have him on board for the day,” he added.
Team GB’s head of brand licensing and retail, Paul Ellis, said: “We’ve enjoyed a great relationship with the team at Green Snow, who have pulled out all the stops to ensure a fantastic store experience for our fans during the Olympics.
“Their experience and passion has resulted in a strong performance during the games, and we are delighted for the contribution that it gives back to Team GB,” he added.
