UPDATE: 1.15pm. SSE says power has been restored.

A POWER cut is affecting homes in a large part of Southampton.

The SO14 area of the city, which includes Ocean Village and St Mary's, has seen a major outage.

According to supplier SSE (Scottish and Southern Electricity) the cut occurred at 10.24am this morning.

It is not expected to be restored until early this afternoon.

The outage is also affecting traffic lights, according to Southampton City Council's travel team.

A statement from SSE read: "We’re sorry for the loss of supply. We currently have a fault affecting the areas listed.

"Our engineers are on site working hard to get the power back on as quickly as they can. If you need more information, please call us on 105 or send us a message on Facebook or Twitter (@ssencommunity) and quote reference 'HT6509'"
