TEMPARATURES across Southampton are set to reach above 20C for the rest of this week, forecasters have said.

Following grey skies and rain in the past month, the area is slightly heating up again ahead of the bank holiday according to the Met Office.

Thursday and Friday are to reach peaks of 21C and 20C respectively before residents head outside to enjoy their long weekend.

On Saturday the temperature is due to be 21C, but on Sunday this is due to rise to 22C with a sunny day expected in Southampton.

Monday, althought slightly cloudier, is expected to be just as hot at points.

This comes as the Met Office predicts high pressure levels and an increase in pollen levels over the next few days.

Sarah Kent, a Met Office forecaster, told the PA news agency: “High pressure is dominating this week bringing mostly settled conditions with variable amounts of cloud.

“However, there will be a north-easterly breeze coming in from the North Sea making it feel colder for some regions especially later on in the week.

“Where there is sun, particularly on Wednesday, temperatures could reach highs of 24C in England and Wales, while western areas in Scotland and Northern Ireland could be up to 26C.

“This all depends on the amount of cloud some regions see.”
