A SOUTHAMPTON man who stopped on a pelican crossing while he went shopping has been banned from the roads.
Muhammad Bilal Nasir stopped his Vauxhall Meriva on a pelican crossing in Shirley Street, a court heard.
The 38-year-old of Winchester Road was confronted by police officers and told them he had only stopped for five minutes on January 27 this year.
Appearing before Southampton Magistrates' Court he was charged with stopping a vehicle in a pelican crossing controlled area to which he pleaded guilty.
The care worker already has nine points on his licence.
He was fined £84 and given a six-month ban.
He must pay £85 in costs ad a £34 victim surcharge.
