A MAN who rescued a loose dog running along a stretch of Southampton motorway is searching to find its owner.

On Tuesday, August 23, Gregg Turner was driving down the M271 heading to Westquay Shopping Centre when he spotted a scared dog running along the motorway.

The dog was rescued by the 23-year-old consultant when he safely stopped his car and called him over.

"I stopped three times," said Gregg. "Third time lucky, I was driving next to him shouting 'sit' and 'treat'."

Now, Gregg is hoping to fine the lost pooch's owner.

Gregg was unable to take the dog home with him, but he is now in the safe hands of another party.

He said he would "love to meet the owner and understand why he was running along the duel carriageway".

The dog is a black dog with a greying muzzle, who appears to be a Labrador or similar breed/mix, and is wearing a red collar with a gold bone-shaped tag.

Please contact emily.liddell@dailyecho.co.uk if you believe the dog to be your so your contact details can be passed on to Gregg.
