A SOUTHAMPTON youth has called 999 to report a "fake fire" and "ask for a sandwich".

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have taken to Twitter today to vent their anger after two prank calls from "a youth in Harefield".

The Tweet explains that two calls were made from a mobile earlier today to "ask for a sandwich" and "report a fire in Weston" - despite the call coming from the Harefield area.

The Tweet reads: "We had a two calls from a youth in Harefield, Southampton earlier #1 Asking for a sandwich #2 Reporting a fire in Weston (very good eyesight there!).

"We have your mobile number & location - If there is a call #3 We can have your mobile disconnected"
