TWO men are due to appear in court after a man was racially abused and assaulted in Southampton.

Ricky Goodman, 35, of Windermere Avenue, Southampton, will appear in court charged with one one count of racially aggravated assault, one count of assault by beating, one count of using racially aggravated threatening words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress, and one count of using threatening words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

Rory Marshall, 24, of William Macleod Way, Southampton, will face charged of one count of racially aggravated assault, one count of assault by beating, and two counts of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

Both men are due to appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, September 21, following postal requisitions.

It comes after an attack on a man in Vosper Road, Southampton at around 4.15pm on February 23.

A man in his 30’s was out jogging when a group of people in a car drove past and shouted abuse at him.

The group of men then stopped the car and assaulted the man.

The man in his 30’s suffered minor facial injuries and a minor injury to his elbow.
