A CAR thought to have been used by people involved in illegal hare coursing has been found abandoned in the New Forest.

Police say the vehicle, which was discovered in Bransgore, was not insured and its front number plate was missing.

An item stolen elsewhere in Hampshire eight years ago was found nearby.

Posting on social media Ringwood Cops said: "Ringwood team on patrol in Bransgore area located uninsured vehicle with no front number plate. Believed involved in hare coursing, rural crime and illegal use of roads.

"Airgun pellets, ball bearings and rabbit hair inside, indicating recent use in poaching and illegal killing of animals.

"Still Strimmer stolen from Micheldever in 2013 recovered nearby.

"If you know someone involved in poaching, hunting or illegal activity in rural areas contact Hampshire police on 101 in confidence so we can protect wildlife and countryside."
