UPDATE: A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. More here.
A CITY centre road in Winchester was closed this morning due to a police incident.
Andover Road was shut in both directions between junctions with Worthy Lane and the Stockbridge Road roundabout. It has been reopened.
Five police cars were spotted in the area at 9am, with three parked outside Light of Bengal and Oriental Star.
An officer said he was unable to give further information, but a man walking past the scene, who asked not to be named, said he had heard that someone fell from the scaffolding next door to Oriental Star.
Travel information service Romanse said drivers should expect heavy delays in the area and advised motorists to use alternative routes.
When an Echo reporter attended the scene, traffic seemed to be easing.
