A MAJOR Southampton road has reopened following a medical incident this morning.
Emergency services raced to Shirley Road after being alerted to a concern for welfare report.
A man believed to be in his 60s was treated by paramedics at the scene and then rushed to hospital.
The route into the city was blocked off near Cawte Road, however, has since reopened and traffic is able to pass.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: "We were called out at 7.36am today (17 Sept) to reports of a concern for welfare on Shirley Road.
"It follows a man, believed to be in his 60s, having suffered a medical episode."
