THREE cars have been reduced to smouldering wrecks following an early morning blaze.
Shirley residents described being woken by popping and explosions at around 4am today.
Three cars went up in flames in the Cannon Street car park near Shirley Towers.
Crews from Redbridge Fire Station raced to the scene and police were also alerted.
No one was injured, however, a Ford Focus, Ford Galaxy and what is believed to be a Vauxhall Corsa have been severely damaged.
According to Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service, the cause of the fire is currently unknown.
The stop message came in at 4.55am.

Fire crews were also called to a derelict shop fire last night.
