A SOUTHAMPTON woman was left dizzy and unable to stand after allegedly being spiked by a needle in a city centre club.
Charlotte Evans has described her ‘absolutely terrifying' experience of being spiked during a night out at Trilogy in London Road.
The 18-year-old had been enjoying drinks with several friends just after 11pm on Sunday.
However, at some point during the night she was unable to feel her face.
She said: “We were having a good time. At some point, I couldn’t feel my face.
“I didn’t really have a lot to drink. I never left my friends. I was never by myself. And then we went back to my friend’s house.”
On Monday, Charlotte started her evening work shift at a Southampton Wetherspoons.
She said: “I couldn’t see properly and I was really confused and my colleagues had to help out.”
She eventually told her boss she thought she had been spiked and asked to go
home.
Charlotte added: “I’m waiting outside for my roommate to come and pick me up and I can’t stand up at all. I’m full-on sitting on the floor. I just can’t see what I’m doing and I’m just really dizzy.
“I woke up this morning [Tuesday] and there’s a mark on my left arm from where I’ve obviously been injected with whatever it is.
“It’s just absolutely terrifying, considering it was my first time out as well.”
She went on to say: “In general, I would like all clubs to do bag checks because this very easily could have been avoided.”
Police have confirmed an investigation is now underway.
A spokesperson for Hampshire police said: “We received a report at 1.29pm on Tuesday 2 November that a 18-year-old woman had been spiked with a needle at Trilogy night club on London Road, Southampton on Sunday 31 October.
“This incident is currently under investigation and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.
“We would like to reassure people that we are taking these crimes seriously. They can have devastating consequences and result in serious criminal charges.”
The Daily Echo contacted Trilogy for comment but had not received a response at the time of going to press.
